Aunque sabemos que todavía faltan algunos meses para que comience el Festival aquí en la oficina estamos muy emocionados porque ya estamos recibiendo muchas películas (y esperamos que lleguen muchas más porque la convocatoria no cierra hasta el 27 de abril).
En festivales pasados hemos tenido la oportunidad de disfrutar cine de diversos países y culturas y este año no será la excepción. El Director de Programación, Luis Garza, mencionó que hasta ahora hemos recibido películas de Taiwán, India, España, Alemania, Francia, entre muchos otros países. Aquí les va un dato interesante- uno de los países de los que hemos recibido más películas este año ha sido Turquía.
Aquí en el Festival nos hemos dado cuenta que la creatividad de los cineastas no sólo se limita al contenido mismo de sus películas sino que algunos también han encontrado formas interesantes de “envolver” sus obras. Hace unas semanas recibimos un paquete de Bélgica- muy al estilo Belleza Americana– repleto de pétalos de rosas. En años pasados también han llegado paquetes de la India cubiertos con coloridas telas y paquetes un poco más ecológicos y austeros de Corea e Irán cubiertos simplemente con papel periódico. En ocasiones las películas también son acompañadas por otras sorpresas- por ejemplo, algunos paquetes de Inglaterra han llegado acompañados por los DVD (originales) de la clásica serie sesentera Mi Bella Genio…
En fin, esto es todo por ahora (seguro que les dieron ganas de ver Mi Bella Genio, por lo menos a nosotros sí) pero aquí seguiremos trabajando para traerles todas las novedades y noticias del Festival.
Although we know there are still a couple of months left until the Festival begins, here in the office we are pretty excited because lots of movies are arriving already (and we expect way more because the deadline is not until April 27).
In past festivals we had the opportunity to enjoy films from many countries and cultures and this year will not be the exception. The Programming Director, Luis Garza, said that so far we’ve received movies from Taiwan, India, Spain, Germany, France, among others. Fun fact: one of the countries from which we have received the most movies this year is Turkey.
Here in the Festival we have found that the filmmakers creativity is not only restricted to the contents of the films themselves. Some filmmakers have also found interesting ways of “wrapping” their work. A few weeks ago we received a package from Belgium-with a hint of American Beauty– full of rose petals. In past years we’ve also gotten packages from India covered in colorful fabrics and other more eco-friendly packages from Korea and Iran covered simply with newspaper. Other times the films have come accompanied by other surprises- for example, some films from England have arrived with DVD copies of the classic sixties television show I Dream of Jeannie…
Anyhow, that´s all for now (I’m sure you have the sudden urge to go watch I Dream of Jeannie, well at least we do) but we are going to keep working to bring you the latest news about the Festival.
